Hello, this is Lucy's Zoo workshop at the Primrose preschool!

We had some curious guests here at the school right before Christmas. They were hairless guinea pigs. This breed is called skinny.
They looked really cute, like a small hippos! They were siblings and they were called Pupcia and Chrupcio.
Skinny is the youngest breed of cavia, they've been around for only 40 years. They are available in many different colours and patterns.Their skin is smooth with wrinkling around the neck and legs. They have hair on their feet, legs and muzzles.
They are born almost hairless then grow the hair on their legs, feet and muzzles as they grow older. They are generally very well behaved and affectionate animals.
Like other guinea pig breeds they thrive with company and prefer to be around other cavies. If not they require the attention of the owner for a few hours a day.
